A great song about a great man. Get in, kick some heads, annexe territory. Wander off into the sunset and obscurity.
I read in Esquire that this generation might be the first to not see an extra star go on the US flag. Alaska and Hawaii joined in 1959, then back to Arizona and New Mexico in 1912.
So in memory of Polk maybe the US should extend the Oregon Territory by inviting British Columbia in (or just annexe it – what the hey). They’re probably sick of having French speakers in their country anyway.
Or solve the illegal immigration problem in one swift move and invite Mexico to be no. 51.
Any other candidates? Cuba?
… Well at least Polk had a musicla genre named after him.
