Gandalf Voted Today

Update: Shocker – McCain voted against the torture ban.

The Senate has been taking advice from Gandalf. Bush will surely veto, but today the Senate voted against waterboarding and all forms of torture.

You can’t fight the Enemy with his own Ring without turning into an Enemy, but unfortunately Gandalf’s wisdom seems long ago to have passed with him into the True West. ~ J.R.R. Tolkien

McCain wants to be president more than he wants to uphold his moral stance against torture. I would guess that in any similar situation, most of the candidates would do the same. Except Ron Paul of course. He wouldn’t even sacrifice an underling to distance himself from a negative issue. Of course, he’s not getting a nomination, is he?

No, he’s not. It’s like John Stewart said when Paul was on his show – “You seem to be a man of consistent, principled integrity….Americans don’t usually go for that.”
