L’Engle Quotes

by Travis Prinzi on February 1, 2008

My news writers think they’re gonna go all Hollywood on me and strike. I told them I’d double their pay. They thought that was really hilarious, since two times zero equals zero. So no weekend report, but here are a few L’Engle quotes from Walking on Water: Reflections on Faith and Art.

On the artist:

The artist…must retain the vision which includes angels and dragons and unicorns and all the lovely creatures which our world put in a box and marked Children Only.

On words and politics:

If our vocabulary dwindles to a few shopworn words, we are setting ourselves up for takeover by a dictator. When language becomes exhausted, our freedom dwindles – we cannot think; we do not recognize danger. Injustice strikes us as no more than ‘the way things are’.

On Christ-centered faith:

To be truly Christian means to see Christ everywhere, to know him as all in all.
