I’m starting a new category called "Ersatz Evangelicalism," in which I get to poke fun at, well, myself and the rest of the church. I’m using "Ersatz," being defined as "an inferior substitute for something," to refer to incidents when the evangelical church has replaced what it should be with something inferior.
We’ll start the category off with a little humor. Common Grounds Online started a series entitled "You Might Be an Evangelical If…," and asked for contributions. Today, they posted mine. Glenn Lucke, co-author of Common Grounds, has been very kind to me by sending me a copy of his book, which should arrive soon. Head on over to their site and check ‘em out.
Back to sermon prep. I’m preaching at Rochester Reformed Presbyterian tomorrow, and I was dumb enough to select 1 Peter 4 as my text. Lots of work still to do before tomorrow morning.
